Every generation matters
Dear church family
We've had a wonderful couple of weeks. From Thursday to Tuesday four of our amazing young people and some of our youth leaders went to Satellites to worship, have fun and learn more about Jesus. The theme for the weekend was 'look up.' It was a reminder that in life we can get so distracted from what matters most which is our relationship with Jesus so across various sessions we were encouraged to 'look up' to Jesus and place our trust in His plans and purposes for our lives rather than focussing on or finding value in things that we shouldn't focus on or find value in.
'I sought the Lord, and he answered me;
he delivered me from all my fears.
Those who look to him are radiant;
their faces are never covered with shame.' Psalm 34:4-5
Then from Tuesday to Thursday, we had our Holiday at Home which was for those who are retired who may not be able to have a holiday this year and those in the community who may be struggling with loneliness as well as others who wanted to come along for a bit of fun! Paula and the team put on three epic days held at Brabourne which included egg challenges, crafts, a quiz, a movie, afternoon tea, fish and chips, lots of cups of tea and coffee and much more. It was a truly beautiful time where friendships were formed, people had a great time and each morning started with a devotion.
'And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.' Hebrews 10:24-25
One of our values as a church is being intergenerational – recognising that every person and every generation matters. These last couple of weeks have been a beautiful picture of that value in action: our young people gathering at Satellites to worship, grow and look up to Jesus, and our older members and wider community coming together at Holiday at Home for friendship, encouragement and joy. We are one church family, made up of different ages and stages, but united by our love for Jesus, our love for one another, and our desire to share His love with our community.
Lots of love,
Katie
