Not to be served, but to serve

Dear church family

This week we are recognising the contributions of our volunteers.
We wish to thank them for their invaluable efforts.
 
Hebrews 6.10:
"God sees the ways we try to honour him by showing care and kindness to others. God sees and is pleased"

If the Bible tells us anything, it's that God is generous and loves to serve.
We see this in Jesus, who said He came not to be served, but to serve - even though He is the King of the world! It teaches us that we need to help and serve one another out of love for God.
 
Volunteering gives us the chance to represent a God who voluntarily chooses to pour out blessings on all who are in need. A kind and generous heart reflects God's own character, so lets take time to look around us for opportunities to bless.
 
Our volunteers serve Jesus by serving those He loves. To live in this way is a powerful commitment to God's love and goodness.
 
Please join us in celebrating the spirit of volunteering that so greatly enriches communities. God bless these selfless people, giving their time and their hearts to serve others.

If you are one of these people, we celebrate you this week. If not, perhaps now is a good time to review whether there is an area in which you could volunteer some of your time, even if you can only spare a few hours occasionally. You could be even more of a blessing in the lives of others.
