Prepare the ground

Dear church family

This weekend we are launching a new congregation in Finberry! On Saturday evening, as we prepare the ground and our hearts for all that is yet to come, we are inviting the whole church to join us at the Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce at 6pm for a special prayer and worship gathering - please join us!

On Thursday evening at our leadership team meeting, one of our elders had a picture of the Spirit of God hovering over Finberry, just as the Spirit of God hovered over the waters in Genesis 1:2. He said that as we launched Finberry he saw this moment similar to when God said 'Let there be light' in Genesis 1:3, resulting in a release of God's power and presence and life over the Finberry estate. This picture of the Spirit of God hovering over the waters in Genesis 1:2 uses the same Hebrew language for a hen brooding over her eggs, waiting for new life to be birthed. The Spirit of God is brooding over Finberry, Ashford and Brabourne, ready to birth new life, and we get to join in and help with the birth!

Another church member reminded me on Sunday of the many prayers through the decades and the ways God has spoken about what he wants to do. He likened this to a war chest that is full of treasure built up over the years in intercession and prophecy and how we get to open it up and draw things out today. (Let's also make sure we are depositing even more back into it!)

And the good news is this is just the beginning… there is so much more that God wants to bring to life, so many lives he wants to transform, so many communities he wants to impact, so many new things yet to be birthed - new wells yet to be dug, so much more for us to draw on that God has spoken over the years and so many more prayers yet to be answered.
Personally, I want to thank the church for your prayers for me this past week and the many kind messages I have received since the letter went out to the church last weekend concerning my family situation and the time off that I am about to take. I am really excited about all the things God is going to be doing over the coming months across our church family and although I am sad to be missing it, I look forward to hearing all about it when I get back. I am also hugely thankful to God for you all, for calling me to such a loving church family and for the great team God has given us to lead the church forward at this time.
