Pray in EVERY situation

Dear church family

'Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ.' (Phil 4:6-7)

Last week we had prayer ministry training which was so helpful and practice (shout out to Paula and Paula who ran it!). During the evening, we were reminded of the power of prayer and how wonderful and beautiful it is to pray for each other and bring before God whatever is going on in our lives and hearts and give it to the Father and invite the Spirit in to minister to us. In prayer we remind ourselves of who our God is. Our God is El Shaddai, God Almighty, nothing is too big for Him. Our God is El Roi, the God who sees me and He knows everything that is going on in our hearts, our minds and our bodies before we even come to prayer. And He is El Shama, the God who hears - hears our prayers and cares deeply for us.

The reason we do not need to be anxious is because God loves us and cares for us. When we bring everything to Him, He is the one who answers us, guides us and helps us. When we go to Him in prayer, we are given peace as we are reminded of who He is and we can leave whatever we need to leave at His feet. He is the one who guards our hearts and minds, we do not need to. But when we don't pray, when we don't spend time with Him that is when we are more likely to lose our peace or joy and lose sight of what matters. We put our trust in things we shouldn't and look to ease our anxieties in other ways like distractions or taking control of situations. Paul encourages us to pray in EVERY situation, to invite God into every part of our hearts and lives and share it with Him. Even the little seemingly insignificant things.

Therefore, let us in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving present our requests to God and trust that His peace will guard our hearts and minds in Christ.

DANCE MINISTRY - STARTING TONIGHT
Friday 11th September…
If you think you'd enjoy moving to music and worshipping God in this way, you're very welcome to come along and give it a try! Each session includes a warm-up, time to learn and develop choreography, and finishes with a cool-down. No previous dance experience is needed — just come as you are!

EQUIP KENT
Starting in October…
We are excited to let you know that Equip Kent will be starting in October. Equip Kent is a foundation course in Christian leadership, designed for anyone who wants to grow in their theological knowledge, biblical studies, mission, leadership and ministry practice so they can be better equipped to serve Jesus and His church. MARRIAGE COURSE
Starting Wednesday 7th Oct
We are a family here at New Wells and we want to equip and invest in all stages of life. As part of investing in various life stages, in October we are running a marriage course which is for those who would like to strengthen and invest in their marriage. CHRISTMAS? CHRISTMAS!
We are so blessed as a church to be full of people with different gifts and talents they can use to glorify God. One of the ways we can do this is through creative performing arts! We are looking for people who are passionate about creativity in this way to potentially be involved in our Christmas production this year. If you or your young person / child is keen to use dance, singing, drama, music, etc.. To help put on a creative and engaging presentation of the Gospel this Christmas we would love to hear from you! In Memory of Wendy (Sue) Bishop
For those who knew and loved Wendy (Sue) Bishop, her funeral will be held on Monday 28th September at 12.30pm at Charing Crematorium followed by a wake at the Holiday Inn Ashford (North A20). Wendy requested that people avoid wearing black and wear bright colours instead. She also requested no flowers, and any donations to be made to the Pilgrims Hospice or the City of Canterbury Band.
