We are blessed

Dear church family

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.
Ephesians 1:3-4

Just stop and think about those statements for a moment.
Do you ever think about what it means to be blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ? We are blessed because we have been chosen to be Holy and Blameless in his sight. This means that if you have decided to be a Jesus disciple, you are different from those who have not. You are marked as special by our Lord and set apart (holy) to worship him. As a true disciple, we seek to live our whole lives orientated towards God, growing an ever-deeper connection with him and actively being transformed by the Holy Spirit, to be more like him.

Perhaps you find that difficult to believe but stop for a moment and think about how you were one year ago or maybe two. Can you detect changes? You may need to cast your mind back a bit further but if you are honest, can you see some areas where you may have struggled then that are not so difficult now? If it is true that we were chosen before the foundation of the world to be redeemed by Christ, then he is not going to leave us as he found us. The moment we truly give our lives to Christ, the Holy Spirit moves in and the transformation begins. Yes – even you!!

The problem with us is that we so often focus on what is wrong. What is wrong with Church, what is wrong with the Pastor, what is wrong with our workplace and what is wrong in us. We are so fixated on what needs to change (in our opinion) that we so often fail to see the blessings that are taking root and flowering all around us. It is good to recognise where growth is needed or we would stagnate thinking that everything is sweet just as it is today, but we also need to recognise that which is good. Have a read of Genesis 1 – the account of God's creation. You will find that at verse 10, it reads: 'And God saw that it was good'. He hadn't finished creation, but he did pause long enough to notice that what he had created so far was good.

Take time this weekend to notice and give thanks to God that he really has gifted you with every spiritual blessing in Christ – you are just a work in progress. Give thanks for how far you have come, reflect on his fingerprints in your life and know that 'it is very good'. We can look forward in anticipation as we recognise that God is not finished with us yet. There is far more beauty that he wants to grow in your Spirit, in your life and in those you love.

I thank God for you because he chose you to be with me and all of the rest of our church family as we navigate this crazy little thing called life! Let us all praise the Lord together because He is good – all the time!

DANCE MINISTRY
Starting Friday 11th September…
If you think you'd enjoy moving to music and worshipping God in this way, you're very welcome to come along and give it a try! Each session includes a warm-up, time to learn and develop choreography, and finishes with a cool-down. No previous dance experience is needed — just come as you are!

EQUIP KENT
Starting in October…
We are excited to let you know that Equip Kent will be starting in October. Equip Kent is a foundation course in Christian leadership, designed for anyone who wants to grow in their theological knowledge, biblical studies, mission, leadership and ministry practice so they can be better equipped to serve Jesus and His church. MARRIAGE COURSE
Starting Wednesday 7th Oct
We are a family here at New Wells and we want to equip and invest in all stages of life. As part of investing in various life stages, in October we are running a marriage course which is for those who would like to strengthen and invest in their marriage. CHRISTMAS? CHRISTMAS!
We are so blessed as a church to be full of people with different gifts and talents they can use to glorify God. One of the ways we can do this is through creative performing arts! We are looking for people who are passionate about creativity in this way to potentially be involved in our Christmas production this year. If you or your young person / child is keen to use dance, singing, drama, music, etc.. To help put on a creative and engaging presentation of the Gospel this Christmas we would love to hear from you!
