God's Faithfulness

Dear church family

'Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed,
    for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness.' - Lamentations 3:22-23

Lamentations was written by an anonymous author, who survived and is reflecting back on Babylon's siege of Jerusalem and the destruction and exile that followed. In the midst of the despair, heartbreak and brokenness the writer makes this declaration of hope. Even though the nation were going through an incredibly difficult time, they were not consumed because of God's great love for them. That even though the exile happened, even though things did not go the way they should have, the writer declares that God's compassions never fail and are new every morning.

What's striking is how God's faithfulness is daily. It isn't dependent on yesterday going well, but freshly given today. We don't need to carry the weight of the week ahead or replay the failures of the past - today, God meets us with mercy that is enough for the day.

So wherever you find yourself this week, whether it has been a wonderful week or a week you are less than proud of, know that God's compassions are new every day and and great is His faithfulness!

PRAYER & FASTING | 5th - 25th January
As a church we have felt the call to consecrate ourselves to God (Joshua 3:5) as we begin the year. This period of fasting and prayer is drawing to an end on Sunday so continue pressing in and consider adding a day of prayer and fasting into your weekly rhythms moving forward from this time.

MARRIAGE COURSE | Starting Wednesday 11th Feb 7:15pm for 7 weeks | New Wells Ashford
We are a family here at New Wells and we want to equip and invest in all stages of life. As part of investing in various life stages, in February we are beginning a marriage course which is for those who would like to strengthen and invest in their marriage.
