Dear church family
Psalm 107 invites us to lift our eyes and remember the steady goodness of God. Whatever the week has held we give thanks to God, 'Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.' His love is not fickle or fleeting, but faithful, constant and strong enough to hold us in every season. Life may not be perfect, but we can be thankful we have an amazing God who loves us and is present with us whatever this week has thrown at us.
The Psalm goes on to say, 'Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress.' Even though God is amazing, life isn't always rainbows and sunshine. God is with us in the highs and the lows. When we are facing difficulty, feeling overwhelmed and life is not going our way, we can cry out to God and He is able to rescue us. Sometimes this rescue isn't fixing the situation for us or changing the circumstances, but He can give us peace as we rest in His presence knowing that He is ultimately victorious over whatever we are facing. We can also have peace because God is a loving and forgiving God, so if we've managed to get ourselves in a pickle, when we turn to Him and say we're sorry, we can receive His help and forgiveness. God is such a merciful God, guilt and shame drive us away from Him but are not from Him, God is slow to anger and quick to forgive. He wants to forgive us and help us; He wants us to be free so talk to Him about whatever it is and trust that He will help you.
So, as we step into the coming week, may we be people who notice God's goodness and tell the story of his faithfulness. Psalm 107 says, 'Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story…' That is our invitation to share our hope, give thanks, encourage one another, and look for the ways God is at work among us. May our worship, our service, our conversations and our prayers overflow from the place of knowing that our Lord is good, his love endures forever and He is with us!
Much love
Katie x
